Bio: Originally from Japan, Rie (pronounced Leeay in Japanese) came to Toronto, Canada in 2003 to study General Arts and Science at George Brown College only to discover that she had a stronger calling from her creative side. Just around the same time, her boyfriend back then suggested that she should go by Leeay instead of Rie so that people wouldn’t mispronounce her name.
After switching to the Illustration program at the Ontario College of Art and Design (B.Des.), Leeay is now comfortable both traditional and digital media- but not the Canadian winter!
Leeay believes that everything should be recycled and mixed these days. Cloths, music, old and new things, images in my case, when combined just right like puzzle, anything could give a birth to another level of art. And by repeating that, every object could be more and more attractive for its value thats been added.
Her clients include The New York Times, Atlantic Magazine, The Globe and Mail, and more.
